Warren L. Holzkamp, 83, of Seven Lakes, died Friday, Feb. 23, 2007, at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, March 9, 2007, at Bethesda Presbyterian Church in Aberdeen. A visitation was held on Thursday, March 8, 2007, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Boles Funeral Home in Seven Lakes.

Born on Jan. 4, 1924, in Brooklyn, N.Y., Mr. Holzkamp grew up in White Plains, N.Y. He was a 1941 graduate of White Plains High School, where he played on the high school varsity tennis team. He served in the U.S. Army Air Force for three years in World War II with the 8th Air Force as a flight engineer on a C-47. He graduated from St. Lawrence University 1949 bachelor's degree in business administration. While at St. Lawrence University, he played on the varsity tennis team and was a member of Beta Theta Pi fraternity. Upon graduation, Mr. Holzkamp was employed in various sales positions with Del Monte Corporation and Mead Johnson. Moving to Elmira, N.Y. in 1957, he then became manager of the Colonial Motel in Horseheads, N.Y. Before he retired in 1988, he was a stock broker for Morgan Stanley in Elmira, N.Y.

Mr. Holzkamp's outside activities included being a member of the Masonic Lodge, president of the Rotary Club, and member of North Presbyterian Church where he served as a Deacon and an Elder.

In 1988, he and his wife, Yvonne, moved to Seven Lakes for their retirement years. He was an active member of the Kiwanis Club and also bowled with a group of Kiwanians. He especially enjoyed being a member of the Moore County Band, as a clarinetist, as well as performing in the annual Showtime activity at Seven Lakes. He belonged to Bethesda Presbyterian Church where he sang in the choir. He also participated in a men's CBS bible study class. At Seven Lakes Country Club, he played tennis and golf.

Mr. Holzkamp is preceded in death by his brother, Norman Holzkamp.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Yvonne Holzkamp, of Seven Lakes; one son, Bruce Holzkamp, of Pinehurst; a daughter, Donna Lynn Burdick and her husband William, of Ramsey, N.J.; two granddaughters, Michelle Jennifer Burdick and Cheryl Lynn Burdick, both of New York City; one brother, Robert Holzkamp and his wife Jane, of Lighthouse Point, Fla.; one sister-in-law, Shirley Holzkamp, of Walnut Creek, Calif.; and several nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, contributions to the Bethesda Presbyterian church choir or the Moore County Band can be made in Warren's memory.

Boles Funeral Home of Seven Lakes is serving the family.
