Charles Ward Hargrove, 77, of Carthage, died Sunday, Jan. 28, 2007, at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst.
The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday (today), Jan. 31, at Boles Funeral Home Chapel of Southern Pines with the Rev. David Helms officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Southern Pines.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 30, at Boles Funeral Home of Southern Pines.
Mr. Hargrove was born Nov. 24, 1929, in Sampson County to the late Theodore Hargrove and Isky West Hargrove. He was raised at Spivey's Corner and relocated to the Sandhills area when he was 20 years old. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Southern Pines. He was the owner and operator of Singer Sewing and Vacuum Center in Aberdeen since 1980.
Mr. Hargrove is survived by his wife, Ruby Whittington Hargrove; one daughter, Terri Hargrove Hurley and her husband, Teddy, of Carthage; one son, Charles Leon Hargrove of Carthage; two sisters, Ernestine Ennis of Kinston, and Joan Woodcock and her husband, George, of Hampton, Va.; grandchildren, Wendi Kittle, Maegan Goins, and William Hurley of Carthage; great-grandchildren, Connor Goins and Madison Goins of Carthage; stepgranddaughter, Dana Price of Carthage; and a stepgreat-grandson, Levi Marquardt of Carthage.
