Editor Steve Bouser's comments about John Edwards' candidacy for president (Jan. 10) should be duplicated and sent out to every registered voter.

The John Edwards we see on TV is the same one who made his millions due to the pain and suffering of the misfortune of others. The majority of us living in Moore County are not pleased with the former so-called "Senator" Edwards. We feel more shame than pride.

All he did as a senator was place himself in the right places to become as well known as possible for the next level -- president.

As Mr. Bouser noted in his column, in 2004 Edwards not only failed to carry Moore County or North Carolina but made a worse showing by losing greatly in his own precinct. The biggest thing he has proven to me is he definitely is not presidential material and never will be.

I have not had the pleasure of meeting his parents. However, I am quite sure they are like most of the other people who live in Robbins -- honest, caring, neighborly, religious, and downright nice to know. I am sure they are proud of their son, love him, and hope he is successful in this venture.

I regret they are surrounded by unfavorable publicity about John. For their sake, I pray the journey will be short. The Democrats are even too smart to make him their nominee.
