Extension Agent Leads Workshop

On Tuesday afternoon, Feb. 27, Taylor Williams, Moore County Agricultural extension agent, will conduct a workshop/demonstration on how to prune trees and shrubs correctly.

Participants should meet at the Moore County Veterans Memorial, adjacent to the Moore County Social Services building in the Carriage Oaks shopping center (U.S. 15-501 and N.C. 24-27, Carthage) at 2 p.m.

In case of inclement weather, meet in the agriculture building, 707 Pinehurst Ave., Carthage.

Play Begins

The Playhouse will present "Snow White Goes West" Friday, Feb. 23, at 7 p.m., and Saturday, Feb. 24, and Sunday, Feb. 25, at 2 p.m. at Southern Pines Primary School Auditorium.

Tickets are $8 for adults and seniors, $5 for children and students.

Pet First Aid

The Moore County Chapter of the American Red Cross, with Tim Boyte, DVM, will present a pet first aid class Friday, Feb. 23, from 7 to 9 p.m., and Saturday, Feb. 24, from 10 a.m. to noon.

The cost is $15, which must be paid in advance. The classes are limited to 20 pet owners.

Classes will be held at 244 SW Broad St., Southern Pines.

Lecture Series

The Moore County Historical Association will host "Preserving Family Records and Treasures," Saturday, Feb. 24, from 10 a.m. to noon.

"Are your family Bibles, photos, newspaper clippings, records, christening clothes, linens and other important memorabilia stored safely and correctly?" asks a spokesman. "Come learn the proper and safe way to preserve your heritage and some unique ways to display your collections."

Seating is limited. Reservations are requested.

The event will be held at Southern Pines Civic Club, 105 S. Ashe St. in Southern Pines.

The cost is $15 for MCHA members and $20 for non-member.
