The Town of Vass, incorporated on March 9, 1907, will celebrate its centennial this year, beginning with a Chili Cook-Off on Saturday, March 10.

This event will be a competition among local church, school, municipal, civic, service and social organizations as well as local merchants.

Cash prizes will be awarded to the winning chili teams in two categories; The Judges' Award, chosen by a panel of local dignitaries, and the People's Choice Award, selected by a vote of those in attendance.

There will also be entertainment for the children, a demonstration by the Vass Rescue Squad, and refreshments sold at 1907 prices. The event will take place in the Sandy Ramey Keith Park from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
