Local Girl Scouts will be delivering much-awaited cookies starting Feb. 17, when Girl Scout cookies will be distributed throughout Moore County and the 20-county area of Pines of Carolina Girl Scout Council.

The initial ordering period is over, but Girl Scouts will be selling cookies at booth sales around the Moore County area until March 11.

"This year you will find all of your favorite varieties of Girl Scout Cookies along with new sugar-free Little Brownies," says a spokesman.

The price per box is $3.50, and all of the proceeds generated from the Cookie Sale stays within the girls' local area.

While supporting girls in their community, customers receive irresistible cookies, and girls practice useful life skills such as planning, decision-making, and customer service. The cookie sale program encourages girls to set realistic goals, such as planning field trips and community service projects, to accomplish during the year. The money earned from cookie activites helps each Girl Scout troop or group achieve its goals.

For more than 85 years, cookie sales have generated revenue necessary to offset the cost of camp and programs; give financial aid, scholarships, and camperships; maintain camps; fund troop/group activites; recruit and train leaders; and provide an ongoing Girl Scout program.
