Dr. Anthony Haro has published an article in the January 2007 edition of Journal of Foot and Ankle Surgery.
The article is entitled "Frontal Plane-Guided Pecutaneous Tendo Achilles' Lengthening." The article details a surgical procedure to change the structure and function of the Achilles tendon.
"The paper was written to encourage other foot and ankle surgeons to consider the position of the heel as related to the leg when performing a lengthening procedure of the Achilles tendon," Haro said. "It will serve as a guide for current and future surgeons operating on the Achilles tendon."
This is the seventh article he has published. He has 14 additional works in progress that are slated for future publication.
Haro completed four years of medical school at the Ohio College of Podiatric Medicine in Cleveland, followed by two years of podiatric surgical residency training at Womack Army Medical Center at Fort Bragg.
He stayed on at Fort Bragg four additional years as an instructor in the residency program and most recently completed a one-year reconstructive foot and ankle surgical fellowship in Youngstown, Ohio.
He is the only physician practicing in Moore County who is board certified in reconstructive rearfoot and ankle surgery. He practices at the Foot and Ankle Center of North Carolina in Pinehurst.
