Southern Pines Recreation and Parks Department's next installment of mini-camps celebrates the sweetheart holiday.
A fun camp for children ages 4-6 will be held Feb. 9, from 4 to 6 p.m., and Saturday, Feb. 10, from 9 a.m. to noon at the Train House.
Campers will make Valentine's crafts and cards to share, decorate cookies and sweet treats, dance, and enjoy a treasure hunt in search of the missing Giant Hershey Kiss.
Camp fee is $20 resident/$40 non-resident.
The Southern Pines Recreation and Parks Department has set up camps to accommodate year-round school students. Thus far, this school season has been offered four day camps for youth in kindergarten through age 13.
Fun camp is just what the name implies. Games, sports, arts and crafts, trips, and innovative activities will make the break from school a memorable one. Session four is March 26-30 and Session five is April 2-5. Camp is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., with a late pickup by 5:30 p.m. available for an additional $10 residents/$20 nonresident per session.
Potters Camp for youth ages 5 and up will be held April 2-5 at the Train House. On Monday and Tuesday, participants will hand build one to four pieces; on Wednesday, painting techniques on tiles; Thursday, paint fired clay.
Register at Southern Pines Recreation & Parks office located in the Campbell House, or mail the registration fee to Southern Pines Recreation, 482 E. Connecticut Avenue, Southern Pines, NC 28387.
For more information, call the department at 692-2463 or www. southernpines.net/recreation.
Due to limited class size, registration is accepted on a first-pay basis.
