How delighted I was to see Mary Griffin's article in The Pilot regarding Warren Beall. I first came to know Warren when my husband became a resident at Elmcroft's Heartland (Alzheimer's residence) in early December 2006.
From the article I was happy to learn so much more about this wonderful man who brings such excitement to Elmcroft residents.
I live in Southern Pines at Mid South Golf Club and visit my husband almost daily. Within two weeks I learned and saw how the residents react when they know it is Thursday -- the day the Piano Man comes to play for them.
Patients at Elmcroft are in various stages of Alzheimer's, but when Warren starts playing you see smiles, tapping of feet to the beat or some who remember the words to songs he plays and begin to sing. Believe me, it's pure joy to see the excitement in their eyes.
Bless this man for what he does and, hopefully, will continue to do after recovery from carpal tunnel syndrome. This spry man of 91 is an inspiration, and I personally thank him for taking time to share his talent with those to whom it means so much.
