Mentoring
Communities In Schools of Moore County invites the faith- based community to attend a Mentoring Youth Conference Friday, Sept. 29, from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Moore County Agriculture Center in Carthage.
The conference is sponsored by the N.C. Mentoring Partnership, Communities In Schools of N.C. and Progress Energy.
Topics include: "Faith-Based Community Involvement," and "Understanding Latino Youth." The keynote address, "Mentoring Matters," will be presented by Dr. Susan Weinberger. Weinberger, affectionately known as Dr. Mentor, is an international consultant on mentoring. Weinberger is the author of numerous publications and articles and is the recipient of President Clinton's Volunteer Action Award.
There is no charge but pre-registration is required. Lunch will be provided.

Special Services
Cross Roads Church Of God, Inc. will host special services for "Friends and Family 2006" Wednesday, Sept. 27, through Sunday, Oct. 1. Wednesday through Friday services will be at 7:30 p.m. Sunday services are at 11 a.m. and 4 p.m.
Special guests include Pastor McLeod and New Light Ministries; Pastor Rogers and St. John Church; Pastor Alverez and Mt. Vernon Church and Bishop Joseph Quick and Pastor Dorthy Eacern-Royale.

Pre-Anniversary Service
Kingdom Builders City of Refuge Church in Rockingham will be having a pre-anniversary service on Friday, Oct. 6, at 7:30 p.m. The speaker will be Pastor Vander Dan Purcell Jr. of Total Restoration Center in Greensboro. Guest choirs will perform. The church is located at 342 Mill Road.

Contestants
Marcus J. Malone and Raehlyn Jamison are representing Frye's Chapel Baptist Church in the Cape Fear Conference B Usher Board's Prince and Princess fundraising.
Marcus is 10 years old and attends Vass-Lakeview School. He is a member and junior usher at Frye's Chapel.
Raehlyn is a second-grade student at Vass-Lakeview.
The event will be held Friday, Sept. 29, at 7 p.m. at the headquarters building in Raeford.
Liberty Church
Revival services will be held at Liberty Church Monday, Oct. 2, through Friday, Oct. 6, at 7 p.m. each night.
The Rev. Jimmy Phillips of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Carthage will be the speaker. There will be special singing each night.
The church is located at 1810 Quewiffle Rd., Aberdeen.
Sunday, Oct. 1, is Celebration Sunday at McDonalds Chapel Presbyterian Church.
The first celebration is the Service of Ordination and Installation of Elders-elect who will help formulate the Session of the Church to govern the congregation.
Elders-elect to be ordained are: Rochelle Ballinger of Pinehurst and Scott McDonald of Aberdeen; Elders-elect to be installed are: Ann Hartsell of Foxfire Rd, George Kirschner of Foxfire and David McCloy of Southern Pines. Carol Black, Gene Hartsell and Jerry McDonald of Foxfire Rd. are completing their terms of service on the reinstated Session.
Presiding as Moderator and giving the homily is Dr. Bill Clark, who is completing his term of service as supply pastor. Members participating from the Commission of Coastal Carolina Presbytery are: Chairperson Meredith Hudson of Laurinburg, Gerri Freeman and Myrna McKinney of Fayetteville, and the Rev. W. Dudley Crawford of Seven Lakes who begins as supply pastor and moderator. Elders representing the congregation in the service are Tom Kees of Pinehurst and Amy McDonald of Foxfire Road.
The second celebration is Holy Communion on this World Communion Sunday across the globe when Christians sit at Table to mark their unity in Christ.
"The community is invited to share in this Celebration Sunday at the Chapel at 10 a.m.," says a spokesman.
Bazaar
Our Saviour Lutheran Church, 1517 Luther Way, Southern Pines, will hold its annual benefit bazaar and yard sale on Friday, Oct. 20, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Saturday, Oct. 21, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The event includes a big yard sale, caf with breakfast and lunch menu, handmade crafts and bake sale. All proceeds are donated to local programs that aid the needy in Moore County -- the Sandhills/Moore Coalition for Human Care, Inc., the Sandhills Interfaith Hospitality Network and Our Saviour's Discretionary Fund.
Donations of household items, books, jewelry, furniture, toys, books, fall and winter clothing, infant and children's clothing are needed. Donations may be brought to the church on Oct. 11 to Oct. 14, and Oct. 16 to Oct. 18, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Arrangements for pickup of large items may be made by calling 910-215-0557.
Homecoming
Cameron Baptist Church will hold a homecoming service on Sunday, Oct. 8, with the Rev. Jimmy Phillips as guest speaker. A homecoming dinner will be held immediately after the service.

Dinner
Eureka Presbyterian Church will hold its chicken and dumplings and barbecue pork supper Saturday, Oct. 14, from 5 to 7 p.m. Adult plates are $6.; children eat for $3.

Fall Explosion
Open House Of Deliverance Mission, 612 Dowd Rd. Carthage, will be holding its fall explosion evangelistic services, Thursday, Sept. 28, and Friday, Sept. 29, at 7 p.m.
The guest speaker will be Bishop Larry Allen, founder and director of the "Rod of God Worldwide Christian Family Center" in Charlotte.

'Singspiration'
Wells Tabernacle Church of God in Christ will hold a gospel "singspiration" Saturday, Sept. 30, at 5 p.m., featuring different groups.

Homecoming
First Baptist Church of West End will hold homecoming, Sunday, Oct. 1, at 11 a.m. Lunch will follow the service. At 1 p.m., a singing, featuring the Baughan Family and the Grove Singers.

Yard Sale
Christ Fellowship Church youth will hold a yard sale Saturday, Oct. 8, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the church located at the corner of Pee Dee and Midland Roads in Southern Pines.
The sale will help feed the needy during the Christmas season.
"If you would like to donate anything for the sale, please bring it to the church on Wednesday evening, or on Sunday morning after the 11 a.m. service," says a spokesman. "We would also like crafts and handmade items."

Fall Revival
Pleasant Hill Baptist Church will hold fall revival Sunday, Oct. 1, at the 11 a.m. and 7 p.m. services. Revival continues through Thursday, Oct. 5, at 7:30 p.m. The speaker is the Rev. Steve Gunter.
Special music will be performed each night. A nursery is provided.

Beaver Creek Baptist Church will hold fall revival Sunday, Oct. 1, through Thursday, Oct. 5, at 7 p.m. Jason Aldridge will be the guest speaker.

Gospel Fest
There will be a gospel fest at the Sunset Theatre in Asheboro on Saturday, Sept. 30, at 7 p.m.
Featured artists will be Bill Pinkney of the Original Drifters with his group, the Gospel Drifters. Other local praise teams will also perform.
Tickets are $10 in advance and $15 at the door. Advance tickets are available at Foust Photographics and the Randolph Arts Guild. The Sunset Theatre is located at 234 Sunset Avenue in downtown Asheboro.

Fall Revival
First Baptist Church of Aberdeen will hold fall revival Sunday, Oct. 1, through Wednesday, Oct. 4, at 7 p.m. There will be special music nightly. A nursery will be provided.
The Rev. Mike Penry will be the featured speaker.
Gospel Sing
Deep Creek Baptist Church will hold its fall outside gospel singing on Saturday, Sept. 30, beginning at 1 p.m.
Performers include the Deep Creek Singers, Potters Will, One Way Flight, and Robert Wicker, among others.
A chicken stew and pinto dinner will be served from 3 to 5 p.m., free to those that attend. There will be hayrides and cakewalks as well.

Fall Festival
Aberdeen First Baptist Church will hold a fall festival for children and adults Saturday, Oct. 28, from noon to 3 p.m.

Christian Singles, for adult Christian singles from 40 years of age and up, meets each Monday at 6:30 p.m. at various restaurants in the Southern Pines and Aberdeen area.
