The weather won most of the athletic contests scheduled for Wednesday.

The much-touted Union Pines/Harnett Central boys' soccer match was among the games postponed due to rain.

The team rescheduled the match, which will determine first place in the Cape Fear Valley Conference, for 7 p.m. Friday at Union Pines.

The Pinecrest boys' soccer match at Richmond was also postponed.

The North Moore boys' soccer squad was scheduled to travel to Chatham Central.

Also delayed Wednesday were the Union Pines at Gray's Creek cross country meet, rescheduled for 5 p.m. Monday, and the Union Pines at Overhills girls' tennis match, rescheduled for 4 p.m. today.

The other matches scheduled for Wednesday were Pinecrest at Jack Britt girls' tennis and South Davidson at North Moore girls' tennis. Pinecrest won its Tuesday match against Douglas Byrd by virtue of forfeit.

JV Football -- South Stanly at North Moore, 6:30 p.m.; Terry Sanford at Pinecrest, 7 p.m.

Volleyball -- Union Pines at Western Harnett, JV match beginning at 4:30 p.m.; South Davison at North Moore; Pinecrest at Jack Britt, 5 p.m.

Boys' Soccer -- Oak Ridge Military at O'Neal, 4:30 p.m.

Girls' Tennis -- Calvary Baptist Day School at O'Neal, 4 p.m.; Pinecrest at Scotland County, 4:30 p.m.; Union Pines at Overhills, 4 p.m.
