The new Stein Mart in Southern Pines will open sometime in November.

An exact date has yet to be set, company representatives said.

The clothing store should be open in November, said Ashley Brumagin, spokeswoman for the company. On its Web site, the compant claims that the store will be open in "early" November.

The previous tenet of the building, off U.S. 15-501 across from the Sandhills Cinemas, was the grocery chain Bi-Lo, headquartered in Mauldin, S.C. It closed in October 2005. Workers have been converting the building for months.

Stein Mart sells brand-name fashions for women and men at cheaper cost than department stores. It also sells home decor and linens.
