Stabbing, Shooting Deaths Probed

Moore County law-enforcement officers are investigating two violent deaths in three days.
Andres Vasconcelos Sanchez, 35, was stabbed to death at his Vass home early Saturday morning. Vass police have arrested Alejandro Montalvo Bartolo, 33, and charged him with the murder of Sanchez.
At about 2:35 a.m. Saturday, Vass police and sheriff's deputies responded to a homicide call at 419 Front St. They found the body of Sanchez inside the residence.
Police Chief Rick Bibey said police found a weapon.
Officers arrested Bartolo at about 5:30 p.m. down the road from the murder scene. He lived at 419 Front St. with Sanchez. He was jailed with no bond.
On Monday, sheriff's deputies found Gregg Matthew Furr, 43, shot to death near Eagle Springs.
According to the Sheriff's Department press release, Furr's brother, Larry, 48, allegedly shot him.
Chief Deputy Neil Godfrey said that it "may have been in self-defense," but stressed that the investigation is ongoing.
Monday, deputies responded to a call just before 4:30 p.m. that someone had been shot at 501 Lucas Road in West End.
Deputies found the body of Gregg Furr, of Seagrove, on the floor of the front porch. The investigation showed that Larry Furr had shot his brother after a confrontation. He lives in the home.
No charges have been filed. The investigation is ongoing.
