Seven Lakes Kiwanians Hear About NAMI

Guests at a recent meeting of the Kiwanis Club of Seven Lakes told the members of the greater need for understanding mental illness.
NAMI of Moore County is hosting a "Pathway to Awareness" weekend, Sept. 30-Oct. 1.
NAMI is National Alliance on Mental Illness. Dr. Davies, a Seven Lakes Kiwanis member, won NAMI's volunteer of the year award.
According to statistics, one in 17 Americans is suffering with some form of mental illness.
Krall, Hernan and Airs shared their personal stories with the members.
Guest speaker for the "Pathway to Awareness" event is Patty Duke, actress and author of "A Brilliant Madness: Living with Manic Depressive Illness."
A "Candles in the Sky" observance will be held in honor of or in memory of someone who has suffered with mental illness.
