POLICE BRIEFS: Lillington Man Arrested on Drug Charges

A Lillington man was jailed Aug. 24 with a $4 million bond after being arrested on drug charges.
Moore County sheriff's deputies arrested Marco Antonio Gomez Garcia, 26, and charged him with possession with intent to sell or deliver cocaine, felony possession of cocaine, maintaining a vehicle to keep a controlled substance and possession of a concealed weapon.
Deputies seized 10 grams of marijuana and a semi-automatic rifle. Garcia's first court hearing is set for Sept. 18.
Chase: Aberdeen police arrested two juveniles after a chase Friday. Each was driving a stolen vehicle.
The chase occurred shortly after midnight Friday. One vehicle was a 2001 Ford Focus. The other was a 2002 Nissan Altima.
A 17-year-old was jailed with a $2,500 bond. The other suspect is 14 years old and was released to a family member.
Break-in: Sheriff's deputies arrested two Carthage residents Aug. 22 and charged them with breaking into a car.
The car was on Clifftop Drive, near where the first person charged -- Catrena Lannette Griffen, 35 -- lives. Deputies also charged Max Gerald Childress, 53.
The victim reported that someone stole fishing equipment and a stereo from the car.
Deputies charged the two with felony breaking and entering a motor vehicle, misdemeanor larceny and misdemeanor possession of stolen goods.
Fraud: Southern Pines police arrested a Raleigh woman on attempted fraud charges Aug. 23.
Officers charged Danielle Marie Taylor, 22, with trying to cash a check that did not belong to her. The check for more than $1,000 was from Dr. John H. Fitzgerald and Nestor B. Fitzgerald.
Police charged her with attempting to obtain property by false pretenses. She was jailed with a $5,000 bond. Her first court hearing is scheduled for Sept. 14.
Discharged firearm: Sheriff's deputies charged two men with discharging a weapon into an occupied dwelling at 4456 Carthage Road in West End.
Deputies charged Stanford Dewayne Carstarphen, 19, and Woodlynne Ray Carstarphen, 17, of Aberdeen, with discharging a weapon into occupied property, felony larceny of a firearm and felony possession of stolen goods.
Stanford Carstarphen is also facing a charge of possession of a firearm by a felon. Each was jailed with a $20,000 bond.
Marijuana: Carthage police arrested a Sanford man on marijuana charges during a vehicle stop Aug. 9.
Officers charged Joseph Tyrone Foxx, 42, with possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and no operator's license.
He was jailed with a $500 secured bond. His first court hearing is Sept. 28.
Break-in: Sheriff's deputies charged a Vass resident Aug. 18 with breaking into a car on Atkins Road in Cameron.
Deputies charged Patrice Kate McDaniel, 35, with breaking and entering and larceny of a motor vehicle and possession of stolen property. She signed a written promise to appear in court.
Chase: Carthage police arrested a 36-year-old woman Aug. 26 and charged her with trying to elude police.
Officers said they pursued Rita Brewer Borello along McReynolds Street. She was jailed with a $2,000 bond. Her first court hearing is scheduled for Sept. 13.
Marijuana: Sheriff's deputies arrested a Carthage resident Aug. 28 and charged him with marijuana possession.
Deputies charged Fredrick Lee Munnerlyn, 23, with possession with intent to sell or deliver marijuana and maintaining a vehicle to keep a controlled substance.
Munnerlyn was jailed with a $20,000 bond. His first court hearing is set for Sept. 18.
Stolen car: Sheriff's deputies arrested a Seagrove man Aug. 29 and charged him with stealing a 1986 Ford Ranger.
Deputies charged Steven Dalton Singletary, 35, with larceny of a motor vehicle. He was jailed with a $5,000 bond.
DWI checkpoint: Aberdeen police conducted a multi-agency driving-while-impaired checkpoint on Aug. 25.
The Pinehurst, Southern Pines, Whispering Pines, Carthage, Pinebluff police departments, the Moore County Sheriff's Department, N.C. Division of Motor Vehicles Enforcement and the State Highway Patrol assisted with the checkpoint. It was set up on U.S. 1 in Aberdeen in front of the Police Department. License checkpoints were set up on Poplar Street and Saunders Boulevard.
Officers charged three people with DWI, five with driving while license revoked, six with no operator's license, nine with seat belt violations, 10 with child safety restraint violations, two with open alcohol containers and 90 with other traffic violations.
Officers charged three people with drug violations, one on an existing warrant and three who were state-wanted persons.
