Virginia G. "Ginnie" James, 84, formerly of Union, S.C., died Sunday, Oct. 22, 2006, at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.

Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 28, at Grace United Methodist Church Cemetery, with the Rev. Gary Byrd officiating.

The family will receive friends in the Women's Parlor of Grace United Methodist Church immediately after the service.

Mrs. James was in born Sept. 27, 1922, in Union, S.C., a daughter of the late Frank and Ramoth Frances Bailey Glass. She was a graduate of Union High School and was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, where she served on the Altar Guild, the Pastor-Parish Relation Committee as a Sunday school teacher and a member of the Circle of Hope.

Mrs. James was also a member of the Union Lioness Club, Union Junior Charity League and helped to start "The Canteen" at Wallace Thomson Hospital. She was a homemaker, a loving mother and grandmother and an avid Bridge player.

Mrs. James was the widow of William Frank James Sr. She was also predeceased by three sisters and a brother, Marie Glass, Nettie Glass, Janie Glass Shetley and Billy Glass.

Mrs. James is survived by her two sons, Dr. Bill James and his wife, Brenda, of Spartanburg, and Dr. Paul B. James and his wife, Julie, of Seven Lakes; two granddaughters, Alison James of Southern Pines and Ann Marie James of Seven Lakes; a grandson, William Frank "Tripp" James III of Greenville; and a sister, Sara Glass Collier of Southern Pines.
