In preparation for the annual Farm City Week observance, the Cooperative Extension Service is making plans for "The Great Moore County Race to the Farm."

The event, focusing on agritourism and agribusiness, will be staged Saturday, Oct. 28, from 9 a.m. until 12:30 p.m.

The race will take participants to the corn maze, an alpaca farm, a goat production farm, a nursery and a farm supply business.

Beginning at the Moore County Agriculture Center in Carthage, families will sign up as a team and travel to agricultural sites across the county to pick up clues and learn how agriculture affects the economy and the lives of everyone in the county.

At the end of the race, prizes will be awarded and lunch will be served.

Interested persons are asked to register by calling the Extension Service office at 947-3188 by Tuesday, Oct. 24.

A $5 fee will cover lunch, door prizes and pumpkin decorating supplies.

An Extension spokesperson says the event is open to the public and is for everyone, rural and urban residents alike.
