Masked men shot and killed an Aberdeen man at his home Tuesday night.

A single gunshot killed Anthony Brewington, age unknown, Hoke County Sheriff Hubert Peterkin said.

The Hoke County Sheriff's Office is investigating the slaying because the man's home -- though technically in Aberdeen -- is across the county border.

Peterkin said that detectives are looking for two black men, one with dreadlocks, who left Brewington's home on Ashmont Road in a green Honda or Hyundai.

The shooting occurred about 6:35 p.m. Brewington worked at Mac's Breakfast Anytime in Southern Pines, Peterkin said.
