Wases Have Good Week in Football Contest

Wouldn't you know it. I finally have a good week in The Pilot football contest and I don't have any space to brag about it.

Yes, I went 17-3, better than anyone else who played the contest last week. That's all I'm going to say about that.

The Wases did pretty well in the contest. I don't know their relationship, but they both live in Pinebluff and they both are lucky when it comes to the tiebreaker. Cristina Wase went 16-4, as did Bob Suggs of Southern Pines. The tiebreaker game was Auburn-Florida, with Auburn winning 27-17 (44 total points). Cristina had 45 points, while Suggs had 35 for his tiebreaker total, so the first-place check for $50 goes to Cristina. Suggs gets the $30 second-place check.

The battle for the third-place money ($20) was even closer. Both Dale Kellis and Pam Wase went 15-5, and both had 46 for their tiebreaker. So, to the hat we went, and Wase was the name chosen, giving her third place.

Overall, Mike Bowyer remained in the lead with an 87-33 mark. As for me, my sterling effort (or luck) moves my overall mark to 78-42. I don't have enough room for my picks, so I will run them in Friday's paper.
