Pinewild Dispute A Matter of 'Equity'

It is unfortunate that you have chosen the pejorative label of "selfish" to describe the hundreds of Moore County citizens with whom you happen to disagree.
The dispute between Pinehurst and Pinewild is one of "equity" or as you put it, "what is fair?"
Despite enjoying the free benefits of their proximity to Pinehurst, many Pinewild residents are opposed to paying taxes for municipal services they will not be receiving. In a similar vein of self-interest, the village apparently has no reservation about collecting those full taxes from Pinewild residents, despite failing to provide a quid pro quo in service delivery.
Name-calling by the editor of the local newspaper does little to improve understanding or develop consensus toward a solution in this dispute. Rather, it tends to lock folks into their established positions and increases bitterness in a community that likes to think of itself in a very different way.
Maybe you have been infected by the political season campaign ads. But you ought to be better than that.
