I represented interests of state employees, teachers, and federal and military employees and retirees for 17 years. From early on, Bud Shaver devoted almost the same number of years working by my side for these people in meetings, in the courtrooms, and in the halls of the General Assembly.
Even after court battles ended in our favor, Gen. Shaver has continued tirelessly, without being elected, to correct the latest unfair and discriminatory treatment of government workers and military personnel.
It is unbelievable that another Raleigh group, the hierarchy of SEANC, now attempts to churn its influence onto the voters of Moore County. I am only one person in Raleigh and have no desire to tell people there how or for whom to vote.
But voters do need to know the truth.
The truth is Bud Shaver is the only candidate in Moore County that has done more than run his mouth. He does not kowtow to the "SEANC crowd Raleigh" or anyone else. He works. He never quits.
He already has support of some key legislators on legislation important to Moore County and soon to be introduced at the 2007 General Assembly.
Bud Shaver was also lead plaintiff for me in the 1990-1995 Intangibles Taxpayers litigation that personally rewarded and stood up for the rights of 260,000 taxpayers, many of whom are residents of Moore and adjoining counties.
Bud alone published a newsletter for over two years that kept our people informed of their rights as taxpayers in fighting government violations of people's constitutional rights.
No candidate I know of, other than Bud Shaver, ever lifted a finger to help us help SEANC, school teachers, military men and women, or government employees.
Shaver has proved his merit. Others have not.
Eugene Boyce, Attorney
Raleigh
