East Montgomery Stops North Moore

The East Montgomery High School football team completed the success of its Homecoming celebration on Friday night at Biscoe by defeating North Moore High School, 33-7.

The Eagles took a 20-0 halftime lead in the Yadkin Valley Conference clash behind a varied attack. The first score came on a Royce Little 25-yard touchdown pass to Reggie Moore. T. J.. Barrett scored the second Eagle touchdown on a 37-yard scamper late in the first quarter.

Early in the second quarter, Augustino Munoz followed up his 37-yard dash with a four-yard plunge for a score. Munoz added extra-point kicks after two of the three East Montgomery scores.

Late in the third quarter, Moore turned from catching touchdowns to running for them. He sprinted 81 yards for a score. Munoz added the extra point, and with 4:01 remaining in the third quarter, the Eagles led 27-0.

North Moore would get on the board in the fourth quarter when quarterback Sean Gilmore connected with Harold Chandler for a 40-yard score. Chandler booted the point-after, and with 9:47 left in the fourth quarter, the score stood at 27-7.

East Montgomery's final touchdown came with less than a minute remaining in the game.

After an Eagle punt was downed on the Mustang 20-yard line, East Montgomery recovered a Mustang fumble on the 20, and Brandon McGregor ran the ball into the end zone on the next play.

Munoz's kick was wide, and the score was East Montgomery 33, North Moore 7 with only 43.8 seconds remaining in the game.

East Montgomery's record improved to 2-5 for the season and 1-2 in the conference. North Moore's record dropped to 0-7 (0-3) conference).

The Mustangs play West Mont-gomery at home Friday.
