"If you miss the event on Friday, stop by on Saturday from noon to late afternoon and talk with the artists, have lunch and perhaps select a piece of art," says a spokesman.

Jane Casnellie was born in Nottingham, England, and lived there for over 20 years. She continues to travel extensively throughout Europe and South America. Much of her work is taken from photographs of her travels. She is a self-taught artist. Prior to working in oils, she spent a decade working in acrylics on wood in the folk art genre. Oil painting is now her main focus, with recent works residing in private collections in California and Eastern U.S. Casnellie accepts commissions, particularly for pet portraits.

She currently owns Hollyhocks Art Gallery, located at The Shoppes at Pinehurst Place, 905 Linden Rd. in Pinehurst, which she shares with three other artists.

Sharon Ferguson is a native of Moore County, where she continues to live and work. She is an award-winning artist and has exhibited her work extensively. In 1985, she accepted a position as manager of an art gallery and frame shop and has worked there for 12 years.

Ferguson has studied under Kamille Corry, a painter of classical realism and a former student of D. Jeffery Mims. She later progressed to studying under Mims for three years.

Ferguson's work may be seen in many private collections locally as well as out of state.

Pam Powers January has been drawing and painting animals for more than 25 years. Her work was first published in a guidebook for the St. Louis Zoological Park.

She then worked for the American Kennel Club in New York City as an art director for their monthly magazine, the "American Kennel Gazette." Her illustrations regularly appeared in the Gazette for the next seven years. During that time, Hills Pet Products commissioned her to create 12 artworks of various dog breeds that were then made into signed and numbered lithographs and entitled the "Hills Science Diet Performance Art Series."

Concurrently, Powers January was commissioned by several national dog breed clubs to illustrate guides for the purpose of educating dog show judges. The clubs included the Finnish Spitz Club of America, the Irish Setter Club of America, the English Cocker Spaniel Club of America and the National Beagle Club. Her Illustrations have also appeared in books for Howell Book House and Bantam Books.

More recently, Powers January exhibited a collection of her work at the Campbell House Galleries in Southern Pines. She resides in Southern Pines with her husband, daughter and three dogs.

Dedi McHam owned and operated a 22-stall barn outside of Charlotte. She has written for horse publications including Spur Magazine in Middleburg, Va., as roving editor. She began to sculpt 30 years ago. Her sculpture has been shown at Briersford Gallery in Saratoga Springs, N.Y., and in a private showing at the Campbell House Galleries in Southern Pines.

McHam has commission pieces throughout the United States and Europe.
