'Parents' Night Out' Fundraiser

The youth of Sandhills Alliance Church in Pinehurst will offer a "Parents' Night Out' Saturday, Dec. 2, for children aged 2-10 years, from 6 to 10 p.m., at the church.

Christmas movies and popcorn, games and crafts will be provided.

The youth are asking $5 per hour per child for this fundraiser.

Painting Unveiled

The first unveiling of the original Pinehurst Christmas Tree Ceremony Painting will begin at 6 p.m., Friday, Dec. 1, at Incredible Edibles in the village of Pinehurst, just prior to the lighting of the tree. Artist Walt James will be present.

Pancake Breakfast

A pancake breakfast, sponsored by the Kiwanis Club of the Sandhills, will be held on Saturday, Dec. 2, from 7 to 11 a.m., at the Southern Pines Elementary School cafeteria.

Tickets may be purchased at the door ($6 for adults and $3 for children 12 years and under).

Proceeds generated from this event will benefit charities for children residing in the Sandhills and Southern Pines Elementary School.

Weymouth Christmas

"A Ringing Singing Christmas" at Weymouth Center in Southern Pines continues through Saturday, Dec. 2, from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m.

The Weymouth Center and the Gate House will be decorated for the holidays and open to visitors.

Tickets are $8 in advance (available in Pinehurst at Faded Rose, Given Book Shop and Cook's Choice; Southern Pines at The Country Bookshop; Seven Lakes at Phoenix Fashions) and $10 at the door.

Musical entertainment and refreshments will be offered.

Joint Open House

Moore Humane Society and The Animal Center of Moore County join forces for a festive open house celebration on Saturday, Dec. 2, from noon until 3 p.m.

Take a guided tour of each facility, enjoy some refreshments, help get Santa released from the shelter, meet the resident snake, shake paws with a therapy dog, or meet a K9 officer.

Rabies shots ($5) will also be available at The Animal Center.

The Moore Humane Society is at 5355 N.C. 22 in Carthage and The Animal Center is just around the corner at 5235 U.S. 15-501.

Carthage Tour

The Carthage Christmas Tour of Homes will be held Sunday, Dec. 3, from 2 to 5 p.m.

Advance tickets are $8 and may be purchased at Centura Bank, Fidelity Bank or Carthage Municipal Building located at 4396 U.S. 15-501. Tickets are $10 the day of tour at the Carthage Museum, located across from Fry and Prickett Funeral Home, or at the tour homes.

The event is sponsored by the Carthage Historical Committee.

Creative Christmas

Creative Christmas Tables, Crafts Sale and Raffle will be held Tuesday, Dec. 5, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., at Little River Farms Resort Club House in Carthage by the Extension and Community Association.

More than 25 tables decorated by talented homemakers, interior designers and shop owners, will be displayed. Admission is free.

Proceeds will be donated to help "Save the Cabin" for the Sandhills Woman's Exchange in Pinehurst. Call 910-947-3188 for information.
