Many families are facing this holiday season without warm clothing and other necessities -- including gifts for their children on Christmas.
To help, the Northern Moore Family Resource Center is collaborating with Moore County Schools to supply clothing and gifts to families in northern Moore County. In the past, the center has supported over 100 families through this Christmas Assistance program. There is an even greater need this year.
For instance, 82 percent of children at a single Northern Moore school are receiving free or reduced lunches -- that's the majority of the school.
To sponsor a child for Christmas, send checks to the Northern Moore Family Resource Center in time for the holidays, preferably by Dec. 8. Donations will be used to purchase clothing, such as shirts, pants, shoes, and coats.
"Volunteers also are needed to help us purchase and gift wrap specific clothing items for these children," says a spokesman.
Northern Moore Family Resource Center is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit and donations are tax deductible.
