Turning Point Worship Center at 16433 U.S. 15-501 held its worship service Sunday, Nov. 19, at 10:30 a.m. The topic was "Move to the Side; Let God Fight Your Battles." It was based on Isaiah 49:25-26.

Intercessory prayer starts at 9:30 a.m. on Sundays. Doors are open for noonday prayer Monday through Thursday.

Turning Point's pastor and partners traveled to Sandhills Assembly Sunday, Nov. 19, at 6 p.m.

Prayers are released to Turning Point Partners during times of loss.

Word of Truth Christian Center Inc. held friends and family day on Sunday, Nov. 19, at 3 p.m. The theme was "And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works; not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is, but exhorting one another and so much the more as ye see the day approaching." The center is located at 132 Poplar St. in Vass.

The Southern Pines Public Library held "Yummy in my Tummy," with stories and crafts about all things yummy Saturday.

The STARS (Sandhills Theatre Arts Renaissance School) charter school first-graders held a Thanksgiving feast for parents and students Tuesday, Nov. 21.

Taylortown Head Start held a support group meeting at 6 p.m. Nov. 20 in Southern Pines. On Dec. 5, at 7 p.m., a combined parent meeting for all centers will be held at the Agriculture Building in Carthage.

Wanted: Actors, singers, dancers and tumblers. No experience needed. The Playhouse will have an open audition call for children ages 4 to 15, for the musical "Snow White Goes West," which follows "Alice in Wonderland." For additional information, call The Playhouse at 295-1320.

The community was saddened to hear about the deaths of Sharon Jackson-Snipes, James Otis Gilmore and Ronald Baxely and wish to offer prayers and condolences to the families.

Holy Temple held services Nov. 19. The presiding pastor is Elder Allen Moore, and his topic was "Let God Get the Glory," coming from St. Matthew 6:1-20.

The Bible study lesson for Tuesday came from I Timothy 6. Holy Temple holds services every Sunday, with Sunday School at 10:30 a.m. and morning worship at 11:45 a.m. Prayer meeting and Bible study is held every Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. Everyone welcome.

St. John United Church of God youth department invites everyone to come out to hear motivational speaker Twana Williams on Dec. 2 at 6:30 p.m.

Congratulations go out to Charles and Jennifer Smith who were married Saturday, Nov. 18, at Holy Temple Church. Elder Allen Moore performed the double-ring ceremony. The couple would like to thank everyone who came out to support them.

Congratulations go out to Paul and Betty Gilmore on their 34th anniversary on Nov. 20, and John and Irene Ray who will celebrate their 47th anniversary today (Wednesday).

Bible study at Macedonia has been canceled for this week due to the Thanksgiving dinner on Thursday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

On the fourth Sunday in November at 3 p.m., Holy Communion and foot-washing service will be held at Macedonia.

Bible study is held every Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. at Fletcher's Chapel and every Thursday at 7:30 p.m. at Pleasant Hill.

"Support Our Troops" care packages will be mailed Saturday, Nov. 25. Donations of easy-open small canned goods (no ham, please), toiletries, and a notes/cards of encouragement can be dropped off at several sites including the homes of Mable Gaddy, Doris H. Jackson, and Mr. and Mrs. Eddie Lloyd.

Galilee Missionary Baptist Church is sponsoring this outreach program for our residents who are serving in the U.S. Armed Forces and are deployed in the Middle East.

"All About You," a meeting for youths to voice their concerns, will be held a the Taylortown municipal building Saturday, Nov. 25, at 6 p.m. Sandra Mullings, career development instructor from Sandhills Community College, will be the special guest speaker. Bags of fruit and candy will be given to each youth.

Gywn Gaddy-Boler is the coordinator of this event. The youth department at Galilee Missionary Baptist Church is the sponsor.

The "Free-for-All" annual event will be held at Ives Memorial Baptist Church at 365 East Philadelphia Ave in Pinebluff on Saturday, Nov. 25, from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m.

Free clothes, household items, and soup and sandwiches will be available. Monetary donations will be greatly appreciated to support the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering for Inter-national Missionaries.

Providence Presbyterian Church will have a gospel musical program Saturday, Nov. 25, at 6 p.m. The Pastor's Aide Department is the sponsor. Gladys Garris and Betty Ingram are the chairpersons. The Rev. Edward Williams is the pastor.

A free, seated, traditional Thanksgiving Day feast will be held at Emmanuel Episcopal Church at 340 South Ridge St. in Southern Pines on Thursday, Nov. 23, from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. A shuttle bus will run every 30 minutes from several sites in Moore county, including Spaulding Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church in Taylortown. The event is sponsored by MANNA!, Moore county's mobile soup kitchen.

A Thanksgiving prayer service will be held at Galilee Missionary Baptist Church today (Wednesday) at 7:30 p.m. (after Bible study at 7 p.m.).

This is an informal gathering of nonstop praying, reading scriptures, singing hymns and praise songs, and giving testimonies. You do not have to "dress up." Take a break from cooking your turkeys and pies and come out and pray at Galilee. The Rev. Rose Highland-Sharpe is the leader of this event. The Rev. Charles Nabors is the pastor.

The "66 Books" building fundraiser event will be held at Galilee Missionary Baptist Church on Sunday, Nov. 26, at 3 p.m. The Rev. David Levine and Mary Lloyd are the chairpersons.

A program entitled "Ask Your Questions About the Bible" will be held at Galilee on Sunday, Nov. 26, at 11 a.m. The Rev. Charles Nabors is the pastor and will lead this question-and-answer discussion.

Free adult literacy classes and an after-school tutorial for second- through fifth-grade children are held at Galilee Missionary Baptist Church on Mondays from 6 p.m. until 7:30 p.m.

God's House of Prayer Ministry had worship service on Sunday. Pastor Mary Kelly used the scripture from St. John 14:1. Her subject was "Activate Your Faith."

A ceremony was held to ordain Deacon Freddie Kelly Jr. as a deacon at God's House of Prayer Ministry on Sunday, Nov. 19. He lives in Southern Pines with his wife, Sister Oglatha Kelly and their children.

Bible study will be held tonight at God's House of Prayer Ministry at 6:30 p.m. Pastor Mary Kelly will teach the adults and Sister Jacqueline Dunlap will teach the children.

Thanksgiving dinner will also be held at the church on Thursday.

The church would also like to thank all the visitors who came out to worship with them Sunday.

Frye's Chapel regular worship service was held Sunday at 11 a.m. Sunday school at 9:30 a.m. and evening worship at 6:30 p.m. A church meeting will be held Nov. 27 at 7 p.m. On Dec. 2, Shared Ministries Ensemble will be singing Christmas carols at Woodlake Country Club at 5 p.m.

The pastor, Kent McMillian, was the speaker on Friday night at Cape Fear Convention A.

Sunday night minister Kent McMillian and members of the congregation were at First Baptist Church in Vass at the pre-Thanksgiving service.

The community was saddened to hear about the death of James Ottis Gilmore.

On Saturday, Nov. 25, at 6:30 p.m., Pastor Mary Kelly and the Gospel Mellowtones will travel to Oak Level United Church of Christ in Manson.

Bryan Smith called his grandmother, Norma Finch, to tell everyone he is doing fine and to thank everyone for their love and support. He is stationed at Fort Bennett Army Base in Georgia.

Raekwon Smith received a perfect attendance certificate at awards day at Vass-Lakeview Elementary School for the first nine weeks. He is the son of Anita Smith of Southern Pines and Eric Smith of Carthage.

Lacy Jones McCrimmon was admitted to Manor Care Nursing Center. Visitors are welcome. The Rev. Leon McCrimmon is at home and doing fine.

Maggie McCrimmon, Katie Chisolm and Willie McLeod attended the Four Shadow 70th singing anniversary at Fletcher's Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Laurinburg on Sunday, Nov. 19.

Birthday wishes go out to Kenya McArthur (Nov. 24).
