SMS Holds Fall Festival

Southern Middle School is hosting its first Fall Festival, Friday, Nov. 17, from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m.

There will be games and prizes, cake walks, food, crafts, 20-plus theme baskets up for silent auction, raffle prizes including restaurant gift certificates, a new 20-inch color TV and an MP3 player.

"We will also be holding an indoor yard sale so everyone can take home a few extra treasures," says a spokesman.

There will be activities for all ages. Ticket prices are low due to support from local businesses.

Tag Sale

The Moore County Historical Association is hosting an "Everything-Must-Go Tag and Yard Sale," Saturday, Nov. 11, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., at 325 N. Page St. in Southern Pines.

All new and old inventories (furniture, collectibles, kids' stuff, household items, and much more) reduced 50-75 percent.

Tea and Show

Carolina Performing Arts Center and Special Things invite the public to CCNC's Royal Dornoch Ballroom for its fashion show and tea on Sunday, Nov. 12, at 3 p.m.

Lecture

Ballroom Dance

The Carolina Pines Ballroom Dancers will host a dance Saturday, Nov. 11, in Carthage at 105 McReynolds St. The lesson is from 7 to 8 p.m., with a variety of dancing from 8 to 10 p.m.

The cost is $4 for first-time visitors.

"Please bring canned food for donation to the Food Bank," says a spokesman.

Contra Dance

A contra dance, with Linda Cooper and Big Celtic Fun, will be held Saturday, Nov. 11, from 7:30 to 10:30 p.m., with a beginners' lesson at 7 p.m.

The event is held at Old West End Gym, Old West End School Road, West End.

The cost is $8 for adult non-members, $6 for teen non-members, veterans and active duty military, $4. Beginners welcome.
