The October meeting of the Seven Lakes Garden Club was especially appropriate to the season. The speaker, Jan Graindorge, presented a program on gourds, including growing and decorating tips.

Another table held works in progress to demonstrate some of her techniques. The third table was filled with several different types of gourds in their final form -- bowls, decorations, bird houses and masks were on display. One of the gourds won her a blue ribbon from the North Carolina Gourd Association.
