Pinecrest, the co-champion of the Mid-Southeastern Conference, traveled to J.H. Rose, the champion of the Coastal Conference for a first-round 4-A game.

North Moore, a wild-card selection, was scheduled to play Yadkin Valley Conference winner, Chatham Central, for the fourth time this season.

The state softball playoffs are scheduled to begin on Friday. North Moore, the first seed from the 1-A Yadkin Valley Conference plays a first-round game at home against an opponent not determined as of Tuesday.

There was the possibility the game might be moved up to Thursday. Union Pines, the second seed from the Cape Fear Valley, plays at the first seed from the Mid-State Conference on Friday.

The Union Pines baseball and Pinecrest softball teams did not qualify for the state playoffs.
