The funds are distributed to organizations and charities in Moore County.

Vandy Gatti , president of the Whispering Pines Thrift Shop, and Diana Williamson, allocations chair, announce the spring list of recipients for the $18,000 raised by the Thrift Shop in the last six months.

Twenty-two organizations are on the list this June. They include the local branch of the American Red Cross, Bethany House, Boys and Girls Club of the Sandhills, FirstHealth Hospice, FirstHealth Response (Lifeline), Food Bank of N.C. (Sandhills), Foster Children Special Account, Friend to Friend, Good Hands Gang, Moore Free Care Clinic, Moore Buddies, Moore County Department of Aging, Moore County Literacy Council, Moore Humane Services, Prancing Horse, Pregnancy Support Services, S.E.N.C.Radio Reading Services Inc., Salvation Army (local branch), Sandhills Coalition for Human Care, The ARC of MC, Whispering Pines Fire Dept and the Whispering Pines Police Dept.

"You all deserve a great big hand, donors, shoppers and volunteers," says a spokesman.

The shop is located on N.C. 22, just a mile beyond the airport, and is open for shopping Wednesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
