It is a shame neither has the courage or intestinal fortitude to add a few more words truly honoring the sanctity of marriage by stating in the amendment that marriage is forever, until death do us part, no divorce.

Senators Burr and Dole, if you are going to do or propose something, do it all the way. Half measures avail us nothing. Don't pander to a small constituency. Consider all citizens.

If our Senators truly believe in the Marriage Protection Amendment, then they should immediately move to amend the language to include a total ban on divorce.

If marriage really needs protection, then let's broaden the language to warn wandering spouses who have found someone younger or more attractive or with more money that they are violating man's and God's law. Marriage is forever.
