The Pinecrest girls' and boys' basketball teams came up empty from a trip to Jack Britt Tuesday evening.

The Patriot girls dropped a 56-40 decision after the Buccaneers outscored them 14-4 in the second quarter to take a 29-17 halftime lead.

Brittany Williams led the visitors, now 2-2 in the conference and 5-6 overall, with 16 points. The Bucs, led by 19 points from Mallarie Murphy, improved to 2-2 and 5-5.

C.J. Williams was the undoing for the Patriot boys in the 75-55 loss.

The 6-foot-5 Buc star poured in 31 points, helping the first-place team in the conference take over a game that was tied at 33-all at halftime.

Adam Wire led the Patriots, now 2-2 and 6-5 overall, with 20 points and 12 rebounds, while Seth Maness added 13, including three treys.

The Bucs improved to 4-0 and 9-1.
