Raymond Ray Holt, 86, of Sanford, died Monday, Dec. 18, 2006, at Tara Plantation of Carthage.

The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 20, at Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, one hour prior to the funeral service at the funeral home.

Mr. Holt was born in Harnett County. He was the son of the late James Walter Holt and Lizzie Avent Holt. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served during World War II.

Mr. Holt was preceded in death by his wife, Freda Lemons Holt; his brothers, James Milton, Jackson Woodrow, James Walter Jr., Howard Wright and Jimmie Cirmac Holt; and his sisters, Jessie Lee Prince, Lizzie Lillian Holt, Vernelle Johnson and Elnora Turner.

Mr. Holt is survived by his two sons, Jerry Mack Holt Sr. and James Ray Holt, both of Aberdeen; one brother, Wilford Holt of Cameron; one sister, Grace Graham of Cameron; two grandsons; five great-grandchildren; his former wife, Melinda Kathryn Holt of Alabama; and many nieces and nephews.
