Artist D. Jeffrey Mims, who lives in Southern Pines, has been chosen to co-curate the Oglethorpe University Mus-eum's fall exhibition in Atlanta, Ga.

In a rare arrangement, the museum director, Lloyd Nick, has assembled Mims, James F. Cooper, editor of the American Arts Quarterly, and Dr. Gregory Hedberg, director of European Art at Hirschl and Adler Galleries in New York City, to select works and write the accompanying catalog.

Among the artists included in this exhibition are Paul Brown and Kamille Corry, who studied with Mims in both Florence, Italy, and Southern Pines. Mims has since opened his own academy here called Mims Studios.

This exhibition will open on Sunday, Sept. 17, at the Oglethorpe University Mus-eum and run until Dec. 17.

Also this fall, America's foremost publisher of art books, Watson-Guptill, will be releasing a new publication titled "Classical Drawing Atelier." This book will include the works of master artists such as Michelangelo and Raphael along with the best of today's contemporary realists.

Mims and his students will be featured prominently in this new edition -- out in bookstores this November.
