The two were thrown into the water and injured by a propellor when the jet ski they rode collided with a boat.

Derrick Cox, 16, of Pinebluff, who was driving the jet ski, is hospitalized at UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill. Stampley "Stamp" Walden II, 17, of Vass is at Duke Medical Center.

Cox suffered a serious laceration to his arm. Walden suffered a severe laceration on his left foot, according to responders on the scene. Doctors planned to amputate the leg below the knee Thursday, according to his father.

The two were at the home of Ronald Gerard Schrein, 61, who is their boss at Coldstone Creamery. Schrein owns Coldstone. Hew had invited all of his employees to his home for a celebration of the end of summer.

"They were wonderful kids having a good time and indescribably bad thing happened," Schrein said.

Schrein was operating the boat about 3:30 p.m. when the accident occurred, according to the report filed with the Moore County Sheriff's Department. He owns both the boat and the jet ski.
