Planning is underway for the third annual "Paws and Claws" Gala. Chairman Chris Roach, co-chairman Kelly Stevens and last year's event organizer, Maureen Horansky, along with a committee of dedicated Animal Advocates of Moore County (AAMC) volunteers, are busy arranging the evening's activities.
The fundraiser will take place on Friday, Oct. 27, from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m.. at Weymouth Center, 555 E. Connecticut Ave. in Southern Pines. It will be an evening of fun, food, entertainment and live and silent auctions with all the proceeds benefiting animals of Moore County.
Randy Hughes and his band, and Roger Levesque will provide the evening's entertainment. The food will be heavy hors'doeuvres catered by Elliot's on Linden with complimentary wine, beer, soft drinks, and dessert. The committee has already acquired numerous items for auction and is currently involved in soliciting even more. AAMC is also seeking sponsors for the event. Many benefits accompany sponsorship. Any business or individual interested in becoming a sponsor or who would like to donate something to the auction should contact Kelly Stevens at 255-6280.
Animal Advocates of Moore County (AAMC) is a non-profit organization that has been serving the needs of animals since 2001. The events proceeds will be used to fund the various programs helping needy dogs and cats, including foster care and adoption for rescued pets, assisting residents with emergency animal surgeries, a low-cost spay and neutering program, heartworm treatments, and the operation of the only feral cat station on the East Coast.
Tickets for the event will go on sale soon. Ticket prices will be $50 in advance, $60 at the door, and couples $100.
