Brent Gray, an 11-year veteran of the U.S. Army, was killed earlier this month by a roadside explosion. He was working with special forces, with whom he had served for six years.

He is survived by his wife, Courtney, and his 4-year-old son, Cayden.

A celebration of his life was held from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the May Street Market in Southern Pines.

Friends and family will also gather at 4 p.m. today (Thursday) at O'Donnell's Pub.

Services are planned for the weekend.
