Not Very Convenient

I speak from experience. I took the shuttle from SOP to Atlanta and connected to Chicago last week. The trip was so convenient, and all went well with my connection to Chicago.
However, coming home was another story. I arrived at O'Hare airport for a 5:30 a.m. flight to Atlanta in order to make the 9:30 a.m. connection in Atlanta to SOP. The flight from O'Hare was delayed until at least 6:45 a.m. and there was no way I would make my connection.
Delta was very good in that they confirmed me on a later flight to Greensboro. After several calls to my husband with the details he was able to meet me in Greensboro. We're thankful we hadn't traveled together and parked our car at SOP. That would mean a rental car to go and pick up our own car. Fortunately, I have a husband who could make the trip.
A person who is alone would have to rent a car or rely on friends or neighbors. There goes the convenience. Mr. McCauley's suggestion of schedule change would certainly be beneficial to the traveler and also to Delta. I believe more people would use the flight if the return trip was a certainty.
