Pik-N-Pig is by far the best place around, with the best pulled pork I've ever had. And it it most of the family from John's, or at least the ones that actually ran the place, and cooked there.
That shopping center also has a Kays that just opened and is getting an Ulta sometime soon. There is also a Wine place in there that will be open before the steakhouse (which is too close to Outback for my taste, seems kind of tacky). But it sure would be nice to see a Target, or a Toys-R-Us, it's a real pain having to head out of town to go anywhere besides Wal-Mart.
I'm so sick of hearing this "freebies" crap! This is another load put out there, to cover up why Biden and Obama did win. First off, Biden is more of a man then most men could even pretend to be. Look into his record people! Second, we already faught for civil rights and womens rights, but if somehow the Romney/Ryan ticket had made it, with their 47%/30% mentality then we would be back in the days when if you aren't a well off white man, well screw you.
Women deserve the right to decide what happens with their own bodies, newsflash people, insurance doesn't cover abortions! Also, we think the LGBT community should get the same rights as the rest of us, not special rights, the same rights. Plus, we also believe in candidates that can actually tell us a plan, and not give us the run around of a "5 point plan" that they aren't willing to lay out.
The election is over, Obama is President because we voted him that way, so it's time to move on. The only question now is with the Republican party do what's best for the country and work with Obama, or are they going to do their best to waste time and tax payers dollars to try to block progress at every turn?
fugitiveguy~ I know I discussed this the other day, but here goes. It's up to the states/counties to calibrate their machines. Most of the machines in NC are over 10 years old. Should they all be calibrated, sure, but they weren't.
In the articles about this, which were I'd guess about 90% Fox affiliated, there were very few actual cases of this documented. Also, in some of the cases, it was simply a matter of people hitting the screen wrong, and it was not hard to go back and correct it. If people are either too lazy or too dumb to go back and check their answers, something we learn in grade school, double check your work, then it's their own fault.
There we NO legit cases shown that if the problem was reported, it was not corrected. It is all of our duties to let them know if there is a problem with the booths, and to pay attention to what we are doing. There is no REAL story here. This is Fox News Noise.
It's just like the voter fraud crap. Fact, there are as many cases of people being struck by lightning and dying as there are cases of proven voter fraud. Don't get me wrong, there are way more cases reported by groups trying to suppress voters, but the fact of the matter is it just isn't happening. What is happening is there are groups out there that don't want each American citizen to vote. If they do, Obama will win. So, the plan is to make it has difficult and uncomfortable as possible, to try to sway, especially minorities such as African Americans, Seniors, and Women, for their legal right to vote.
I've said it before and I'll say it again, unlike the far right, I encourage EVERYONE to vote, even if they are voting against my candidate. People should take the time to make an informed vote, look into the facts, watch the debates, the RNC and DNC, and multiple news outlets, but even those who are misinformed, have a right to vote. And I encourage every American to do so.
Guess what guys, no matter what the writers political stance, they have a right to state their opinion. He chose to write in about all of the vanishing signs, so if you don't like what he's talking about, stop reading it. If someone came on here tomorrow and said that they put out a ton of Romney signs and went out the next day and found them all missing, you guys wouldn’t have a problem with the sign issue coming up again.
The fact of the matter is, and I know some don't love actual facts, there is a crime being committed every time someone removes a sign. It doesn't matter if it's a Romney or Obama sign, the property is being stolen. And I have one better; did anyone consider that they have been put in the trash?
This is just another example of the tactics being used this political season. I've seen both sets of signs missing. The problem is that chances are someone is seeing the signs being stolen, and not reporting it. It is a crime, and should be reported. I can honestly say, if I saw candidates sign being taken, I not only would call the police to report the CRIME, but I would stop and say something to the low life individuals doing it!
I personally don't think that a sign is going to affect anyone’s vote. I also don't think they should even be out, unless it is on someone’s property (which is not always the case). The look horrible, effect no-one, and are simply wasteful.
What I have a bigger problem with is all of the voter intimidation that has gone on. The missing signs are just one of the ways that voters have been wronged. Reps going to mostly minority group’s doors and telling them that they don't have to go vote, they can just give it to them, or call it in! It's sick, trying to single out voters that people assume they know how they are voting!
I encourage EVERYONE to vote, no matter who they cast their vote for. The only people that I would discourage from voting are those who don't know the issues, haven't taken the time to watch the Debates, RNC, DNC and many others. That being said, it is their right to do so as well. Anyone trying to take away or corrupt that right should be ashamed of themselves.
We all have the right to cast our vote, put up whatever sign we want, and state our opinions, just because you don't agree doesn’t make them wrong. And the sooner the bullies around here realize that the better. Honestly, sometimes I end up ashamed to be from the same town as some of the opinions I've seen. It's sad, really sad.
It will never stop amazing me what people will believe. Look for facts people. And believe it or not, just because Romney says it over and over (that is, when he doesn't flip flop back and forth) doesn't make it true.
I can't wait until Tues, when Obama is re-elected, and at least some of these constant lies will stop being told.
For the record, just because some lip reader thinks that's what the First Lady said doesn't make it true.
But who needs lip readers guessing about what Mr. Romney has said? He said it on camera. Don't get me wrong, I know it's hard to keep track of what he's said, since he says something different depending on the crowd, the mood, the polls, or heck, which way the wind happens to blow. But he's made his stance pretty clear. Anyone who can't admit he's flip flopped, either isn't informed, or doesn't pay attention. I watched the debates. I watched the conventions. I watched the speaches. Hell, I even watched Fox! The man is a liar!
Great story Amy! It's nice to see someone on here is speaks from the heart, and isn't just spitting venom. This entire election is so nasty, and dishonest.
The only way we can judge how someone will most likely lead is it talk to the people he has lead in the past. The people of Mass. can't stand him. The officials in Mass. say he never tried to work with anyone; he just tried to bulldoze his agenda's into place. Basically those who have seen firsthand how he would be, don't support him. Even the Salt Lake City Tribune has come out in support of Obama, stating something to the extent of who is this guy, and what does he REALLY stand for, when referring to Romney.
The best thing he's done as an elected official is Romneycare, but he doesn't want the same for the American public, since it is what Obamacare is modeled after. This guy is dangerous. He wants to limit women’s rights, doesn't believe that the LGBT community should have the same rights as the rest of us have and in a written speech, given behind closed doors, he said pretty dang clearly that not only will he not get, but doesn't care to get 47% of our votes. Giving a written speech is not a matter of misspeaking; this is just a matter of getting caught on tape saying it.
I know some say that he with the 47% comment that he was talking about the ones who aren't even trying to get jobs, but looking at the fact that the October jobs report shows that 58% of the population has jobs, well, anyone with half a brain can do the math there. And sadly, so many people aren't willing to or able to see that someone who can't keep their lies straight, who flip flops this much, is a liar. If he honestly believed half of what he said, maybe he could give a straight answer and stick to it.
101jackson~ sorry, but it's the far right, that has threatened the jobs of their employees if they don't vote their way. saying that they will close plants because they "can't stay in business" if Obama wins (bull). that is not a ploy by the Dem party, so making the accusation is actually just bringing back up the fear tactics of the far right.
BTW, if everyone is so up in arms about this article, then why are you all still on here posting. if you were going to boycott the Pilot, you would leave one comment saying so and walk away. guess it's just more idle threats.
fugitiveguy~ what the articles say was that it was the responsibility of each county/state to get the machines calibrated. if the counties/states choose to not do so, then it is up to the individual voter to let them know, so that it can be corrected. also, I was unable to find a single "report" saying that either the person themselves couldn't correct the error, or that it was corrected for them. (btw, it was not easy finding anything on this issue that wasn't fox related.)
that being said, from the detailed accounts, it would appear that it is more a matter of people not hitting their choice properly, so all they have to do is pay attention, double check their work, and make sure their vote is cast accordingly. which is something I would hope anyone who is old enough to vote, would have learned in grade school.
imo, it sounds like just another story that has been blown out of proportion, and to what end? an election should be about which candidate’s agenda best reflects that of the voter. it is not supposed to be a media driven s@&t throwing contest.
After looking at multiple different articles it looks like it was simply a calibration error with the machines and has been fixed. One account even said that the person voting noticed the error and on her third try it went through fine. Another account said that it was pretty much an operator error. That the man involved basically pushed the screen closer to Obama then Romney.
It looks to me that this is a pretty simple problem to fix. Everyone should pay attention to their ballots. Double check that the screen shows who you picked and that there was not an error. If you cannot get it to correct the error, you need to report it, so that it can be fixed.
No offence, but this seems to be simple problems with electronics, something we all see in everyday life, not some huge conspiracy. I’ll keep reading up on this, because unlike some I do read both sides of the stories (I’m not glued to one station or the next, which is the only way to be truly informed) but until I see something different then speculation, the facts appear to say that the problem has been fixed. And it is every Voters responsibility to make sure that their ballot is cast the way that they intended it to be.
