This "no ratting law" that is being spoken of; is this the same one that you honor to roll on someone to keep yourself out of prison when you get caught dealing drugs? Right or wrong in how he lived, a man just lost his life and someone out there knows something. Especially if it was a vendetta, there will eventually be some bragging about it. I am always amazed when something like this happens, so much is said and so many opinions are expressed and everybody knows everything until the POPO comes a knockin' and then it's all the same. "I don't know nothin' about nothin." One day the bullet may hit closer to home and you may look at the situation a little differently....
Bentpan-well said. Until this Amendment One vote, I never knew I was such an ignorant southern bigot. Closed minded and a hater. Taking all these rights away from a group of people who, like many others, feel entitlement to so many things. All the hatred and name calling is coming from the side that is so "open minded and thoughtful of humanity." Stop and read the actual wording of the amendment. All these things they want that only "married" people have, they can take initiative and have legal documents drawn to cover every occasion. We each are responsible for our own selves, stop waiting on the government to look out for you. No wording there says gay couples can't enter into binding contracts with each other. Or I hate to repeat the same old advice, move where others share your beliefs and you can have all these rights you so strongly feel you deserve. Would you sit and starve in NC waiting on a job to fall from the sky? Probably.....

I too, offer sympathy to the families involved in this tragedy. This time of year is especially difficult for this. The procession yesterday was quite impressive and anyone who saw it should have felt a tug at their heart and a tear in their eye, even if they didn't Deputy Rhyne. It made me proud to see law enforcement offices represented from around the state.
Here's another clue: sometimes you have to GO TO THE JOB instead of the JOB COMING TO YOU. Rather than sit still and starve because you want to live in a particular area, maybe, you know, MOVE. Drive to another county to work, or God forbid, move to another county. There is a whole other world outside Moore County, people.
Has anyone here looked at the jobs section in this newspaper lately? There are lots of jobs posted. Are they all ideal jobs? No. But starving isn't ideal either. Point is, there are opportunities if someone is truly willing to make an effort. Let's admit that we all have days where we go to work somewhere we don't want to be but the truth is, we have responsibilites and obligations and bringing money into the household is part of that. I think we need to stop making excuses for why good people do stupid/bad things, and just start making people accountable for their actions. Who cares why they are stealing, whether if they are bored or need money for drugs or whatever. We all make choices and there are consequences to go along with those choices.
