Yes, he did, drive a corvette, and lived in Carthage. Ed passed on a few years ago, My BFF and I had a discussion about ALL the time we had spent at his place and it was very moving.-
I would be game for it - b/c,we had moved away for 15 years my children didn't get to experience the life that I grew up in...Although, they have all moved back to MC now to start there families.
I would also sponsor an event, Let me know what you have in mind.

I remember trick-or-treating in the Skyline area as a child (there were fewer places to go then) and we went down to Dunrovin and they gave us Hot Coco from a large cauldron that was over an open fire. That was scarey cool!!! I moved away as an adult and when we came home 5 years ago, I was telling my daughter-in-law about the area, she asked to go in to the shop to see what was there, Janie and Dave were there and the remembered my name... I was shocked as we had been away for 15 years or more... But Good people still live here and always will - these type of complainers will come and go... we will just wave and greet the next ones that come along...
If my memory serves me - the Turkey shoot (late70's early 80'S) was held in Gene Bartons field. Next to Bob's Pizza- I grew up in that area and later lived on those tracks in lakeview... I remember when a trail derailed in lakeview and it was hauling citrus friut from florida. We ate lots of brusied oranges and grapefruit that summer...then about a year later, there was another one... But I don't remember what it was hauling. My Brother worked for Bob Newcomer when Bob's Pizza was in Southern Pines- Does anyone remember where it was located? (I was very young then...lol)
I agree with RmeMP- It has been called a graduation for a very long time - Infact ~ I think I have "graduated" twice with "recondo" And again with my bachelors degree in Business Mgmt. from Lake State University. So what is the problem - now? Why change? I know - so someone can feel a little bit important for having made such a dicision... well guess what - if enough people complain - they'll have to go back to doing it the old way -Btw- Don't WE pay the taxes that pay these people? Shouldn't the tax payers and Parents have a say in thses types of decision? I am still very upset that Moore County Schools has taken away the Memorial Day Holiday for Students. My Youngest son is Enlisted and is a Senior at Union Pines- Not only did they take the holiday away - now they have added exams on that day, so - if you had plans - you must change them - or your senior will not graduate. He has been in the NG for almost 2 years ( since he was 17) as a delayed enrty program - He gets NO excused abesences... even if he is at Drill (which is mandotory) - I really think this school district as a whole needs to back up and look at where there $$$$ are coming from...
