I'm glad the Village Council reversed themselves on this ridiculous ban. What I want now is for the CC group to form and announce a Benevolent Society of Armed Park Joggers. So that all the bad guys in the area know they are real they should adopt a uniform, like shorts with cargo pockets in summer and vests with underarm holsters in winter. That way, all the "soccer moms" will know who is protecting them.

Veterans honorably discharged from service, regardless of their state of residence, should be welcomed at North Carolina's colleges and universities under the same admittance criteria that apply to state residents. I agree that the tuition break is a nice gesture. What I wish could happen is that upon graduation these veterans could find jobs in North Carolina and contribute their training and leadership, plus their new education, to our communities. I know they would be welcome.

Good idea! I keep my canvas grocery bag on a hook and stuff any plastic grocery bags in it. Then when I go to the store I just stop in the lobby and empty the plastic baggies into the big barrel they keep there.

It would be one thing if Nick Picerno were the only Republican partisan we had to deal with. I'm aghast at the tactic employed by the Republican majority in Raleigh that scheduled this vote in conjunction with the Republican Presidential Primary on May 8th when they knew that turnout among Democrats and Independent voters would be minimized.

Then, for good measure, they turn on the Diatribe Machine. This is not about same-sex marriage. That issue has, for better or worse, been settled in North Carolina. This is about power.

Occupy Moore was an idyll, with or without purpose depending on which participant you heard. As such, a peaceable assembly encouraged by the Constitution. We need more of those, so that people peaceably assembled discover who shares and who opposes their point of view - get into a debate rather than walking around hoisting signs. It is distressing to see the Occupy banner dragged through the mud of Long Beach with the express intention of obstructing the peace. Arrests should follow.
