I am greatly surprised, however, that you would spill such hateful untruths about a generation that is now very much in the majority. With the incredible materialism of your generation, you deem to criticize the Boomers. How laughable!
One other thing, DaveyNC. I drive an almost 10 year old car, have a TV I bought in 1995, no cell phone and live modestly. I'm not saying all young people believe they are entitled, but you can look around and see many do. Many of us "Boomers" have what we have now after MANY years of working hard. Many under 40's just believe they are immediately entitled to have what we have worked years to achieve.

Maybe you also believe that the Baby Boomers' grandparents and parents that lived and served during two World Wars, went through a horrendous depression and worked hard all their lives also are fat, selfish locusts that didn't earn their security. Yes, the social security funds were robbed by the government for other things besides what it was meant for. However, that is not the fault of all us "Baby Boomers" that paid into it for decades. The younger generation is the generation that seems to believe they are "entitled" to have the best of everything without working for it. Just look at the young folks today that have their own cars, flat screen TV's, cell phones, computers while still living off Mom and Dad and fully believing that they "deserve" these things. Talk again about Baby Boomers scooping up everything!!!!!
Some of the youngsters out there need to remember that all us "over 55" folks worked hard for decades having sizable deductions taken from our paychecks just to have security when we reached our retirement age. The cost of living keeps rising yet we are suppose to accept no increase year after year. Just the price of gasoline tears into our monthy budgets. Yet I assume we should just sit at home rocking in our chairs. If we as supposedly the greatest nation can't be sure that our elderly are properly cared for, then we should be greatly ashamed.
I find that it is the young folks that believe that they should have the big homes with four bedrooms, granite countertops, stainless steel appliances, expensive SUVs, several big screen TV's and everything that the older generations didn't and couldn't have until they were at least in their 40's. The younger generations seem to believe that they are just entitled to immediately have the best of everything. Guess who most likely the largest age group whose homes were foreclosed on? All the young folks who couldn't afford the big homes and knew it and were foolishly given mortgages by the greedy banks.
This country is not the "Momma" of the world. We need to start taking care of our own before we worry about others. We give foreign aid and yet there are so many here in this county that need help, i.e. all the victims of the recent storms.
If we don't take care of our elderly, then shame on us!

Don't you know, Gayle, that only the superior same know-it-all folks that spend half their time hanging on this site are the only ones that can express their superior opinions. Anyone else will be attacked. Everyone has a right to their own opinion as long as it is "their" opinion. It must be nice to be so superior and hide behind a computer to attack others and say things you would never have the courage to say to their face. Spineless bullying. I came on hoping maybe there might be some discussions about the tragic storms that so crippled many people's lives, but, alas, just the same old hateful rhetoric.
Why do we need more development like this? Look at Olmstead with all the empty buildings. I have never lived in an area where so many buildings are abandoned. Buildings that were perfectly good buildings, but were just abandoned when businesses failed. Then when someone else wishes to bring in a business, they build a new building instead of trying to renovate existing buildings. I just wonder what the total count is for empty commercial buildings in this area.

Unfortunately it is the public's hunger for watching self destructive behavior that enables a guy like that. If the media didn't pursue him and give him a platform for his antics and obnoxious behavior, he would disappear. Sad situation. I am, however, getting sick of trying to watch important news and continually seeing his face on the screen.

There is also suppose to be a database of what prescriptions a person has had filled that the doctors can check to be sure folks aren't getting multiple prescriptions for the same drug. I suppose, however, there may be some doctors that just don't check. That is a mistake.
I wish the media and some people would stop immediately assuming that if someone is taking a narcotic medication, that they must be a drug addict. Yes, there are people that do abuse drugs. That is a well known fact. However, there are people that have physical illnesses that need these narcotics to have any quality of life. What kind of life can a person have if they are in extreme pain 24/7. That is what these drugs are designed for. To relieve severe pain. In those instances, many would be more than thrilled to not have to take those drugs.
