I wonder if the dog gets counted in the authorized PD headcount? He/she should as their cost to maintain would certainly equal that of an officer. Further, one can only guess what the brick & mortar doghouse behind the PD Department would look like. It would; however, be analogous to the proposed Carriage House RR in that the public couldn't find it! The residents of Pinehurst can only hope that the doghouse won't cost $400K+ as the proposed RR's are.

Let's see; $300K for signs, $3M for a parking garage in which the village gets 34 spaces, $800K for 3/4 acre of grass and a few new parking spots, $5M next year for the new maintenance center plus now probably $500K for restrooms not at the garage. Never let it be said that the village council doesn't know how to spend the tax revenue the village takes in.

I believe that the cones are there in advance of a sewer line repair project on that side of the road that obviously has not yet started.

Can anyone begin to explain why there is a delay in providing a simple ID # for a radio? Seems to me that with one organization controlling the assignment it should be a few minutes task rather than several weeks.

Anyone else notice that this deal was kept a complete secret from the public until AFTER the council had obtained the major site plan approval it needed to redo the sand lot?

A village parking lot is a good idea. With the way the council treated the sand lot as a "government building", 70% or about 3 acres could be paved thereby leaving an acre of green space.

Good to see that the PD is using the R911 system in a meaningful manner. Now if the village admin. would just use it for National Weather Service severe storm warnings.

Wrt the current scam, it's too bad that no one picked up on the current roofing scam before the 100's of roofs had been unnecessarily replaced.

With the cost of the additional parking spaces being added ranging from $25K and up, it makes one wonder what the cost per stall is going to be once the Village Council FINALLY announces the long need downtown restroom! Just another reason why the HPC has all but died. The council didn't want another $33K legal bill.

@coffecreme: Additional parking for cabs & tour buses will be on Village Green which the council and planning dept. now consider to be a "Government Building" in order to get around the impervious surface criteria the Green now has. Currently, 12% impervious cover is permitted, however, with the new creative interpretation, 70% or approximately 4.9 acres can be paved. This change in thinking was necessary due to the new planned lot exceeding the 12% limit. Don't be surprised to see that doors are added to the new paved lot entrances to make it appear to be more of a building the council views it as.

Does ANYONE in Pinehurst realize that we now have an Assistant Village Manager, @ about $100K per year, now looking for an unnecessary bar to go into the old steam plant? Further, does anyone realize that when you consider the cost of the new central maintenance facility being planned plus the cost of the infrastructure required for the area, that you come up with a total cost of $7-8 M dollars of tax revenue that the Village Council is willing to spend to develop the NEW Core/Place/Name-of-the-day area? Looks like the council is reading the Washington, DC playbook on spending.
