But, Did you know that prius's are involved in an inordinate number of accidents in some big cities? they are required to make an audible noise(fake motor sound) so pedestrians and bicyclists can hear them coming because they are so quiet they keep stepping out in front of them.Pretty much the same principle as loud mufflers.

in the yard and heard a motorcycle coming down the road before you saw it? The mufflers were not in front of you then. I can hear when my neighbor of a quarter mile away starts his bike to take a ride the mufflers are not in front of me you can hear the mufflers.
