There was hail about the size of pearls in Vass near the Cumberland County border. I heard there was golf ball sized hail in Pinehurst.

I heartily assure you that Islam does NOT worship the same God as do Christianity and Judaism, although it is a popularly held belief that they do. Allah is NOT another name for Jehovah. Allah is nothing more than a more modern reincarnation of Baal, the moon god, that was worshiped by some of the people that the Israelites were told to drive out of the promised land in the Old Testament. Jehovah is the one true God, the maker of heaven and earth and the universe and all that is within those. Baal AKA Allah, is nothing more than a false god who has never created anything. Allah is an idol, and there are demons behind every idol. Islam is of the spirit of antichrist. The Bible says in the epistles of John that anything or anyone who says that Jesus is not the Son of God is of the spirit of Antichrist. Islam's creed says that Allah has not begotten any sons. The Bible says that God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whosoever believes in him shall not perish, but have everlasting life. (John 3:16) These are two very distinct lines of thought and do not come from the same Being. Judaism worships Jehovah, but most do not believe that Jesus was the promised Messiah prophesied in the Old Testament prophets and Psalms. Most are still looking for a future Messiah. Islam is diametrically opposed to Judaism and Christianity. The god worshiped in Islam is NOT compatible with the God worshiped in Judaism and Christianity, so in answer to the question posed at the beginning of this article, absolutely, unequivocally, a million times a million times, NO!!!!!!!!!

I also grew up in very small communities across the state and managed to stay out of trouble. Not having anything to do really isn't an excuse, I don't think, as many of these communities had nothing really to do. I was at home all the time, except when at church and school, but I did not go and do anything like this. That being said, it is a strong possibility that this young man will go on to lead a productive life, all things being equal; but I still think he, and he alone, should have to deal with some consequences of these actions. I repeat that 16 years old is definitely old enough to know right from wrong and to choose right.

I think he should have to work off at least 1/4 of the damages he did to property. That would amount to $25K from what the article says. He says he was bored and looking for something to do. Well, this would definitely give him something to do and would be a service to the community at the same time. It would also send a message that there are consequences to one's actions, even if they are drinking and bored. I am saying that the young man himself should have to work off the damages, not his parents. 16 years old is old enough to know better, if you ask me.

It sounds like a slap on the wrist to me, especially the suspended sentence. This means that he does not have to serve any time. I think the penalties for something like this need to be stiffer so that people will think twice before doing something like this.

As Popeye would say, I am what I am. I honestly do not care if people call me a religious zealot or not. I have been called far worse. That is actually quite mild compared to what they called Jesus. The religious authorities of His day said He was of the devil. I am a Christian who believes that Christians have been quiet and sat on the sidelines far too long. If they are not willing to take a stand now, then when? If not for this, then what?

I agree that they should choose a different day for this.

I too was bullied throughout school. Always being the new kid, different, very smart, and quiet did not help things. One time, a boy threatened to rape me while we were on the school bus in full hearing of the bus driver. My parents and I reported it, but nothing was ever done. This incident happened in Moore County Schools. The harassment from this young man and his cohorts escalated to the point that my parents took me and from school, 20 miles one way. I think it starts in the homes. Parents need to teach their children at the very earliest age that such behavior is not acceptable, and they need to discipline their children at the first sign of such behavior. What works with one kid may not work with another, so the parents need to know what it is that works with their kid and use it. I also think that this is the result of God being taken out of the schools. These kids seem to have no moral compass whatsoever and they seem to think there is no consequence to their actions. They essentially seem to answer to no one, not their parents or anyone else, and this is not proper. This is one circumstance that political correctness needs to go out the window. If such things were dealt with at the first sign of trouble, I don't think they would get so far. Threats are nothing without follow-up, and this no tolerance policy sounds like empty threats and nothing else. In school suspension is a laugh to many, as is out of school suspension to many who engage in this kind of behavior. Sometimes, if all else fails, the board of education needs to be applied to the seat of knowledge, regardless of the age of the perpetrator.
