"Truth between candid minds can never do harm." --Thomas Jefferson
to John Adams, 1791.
Great piece. While I tend to respond positively to a tad of bravado in my candidates, it is true that Newt, by far the smartest kid in the class, can be annoying. And, as in grammar school, most kids hate the smartest kid in the class. Aside from that personality quirk, Newt has the best sense of the context within which we experience this national crisis of both economics and morale; the latter perhaps the result of the former.
Newt would be wise to contrast with the inherent gloom and hard-wired fatalism of Obama by being America's smart cheerleader, without being condescending about it. Tall order.

He showed us how to argue with logic and civility on the most important issues.
