Barriers Hinder Healthy Economy
Yes, and I'm sure we would be wise to adopt the Chinese model of forced labor, child labor, discrimination against women and rural workers. Everyone can ride his or her bike to work and live in mud or straw huts. Sign me up!

What's President Doing on 'View'?
I think that should be "incompetent". Would that be "the pot calling the kettle black"?

I just wish he would find the "caps lock" key.

Academy of Moore Faces Closure
machspeed: You may just need to come to the realization that we disagree on this topic. I'm sure your children are going to do fine at any school they attend. Even though we disagree, I can tell you want was is best for your child. Good luck

Academy of Moore Faces Closure
jcinaberdeen: I hope everything works out well for you and your children. I know the school system in Hoke had been struggling with constant administrative turnover and a high poverty area. I really do believe that they are making strides. Good luck.

Academy of Moore Faces Closure
woodpile: I hope you are not charging people for your detective work. Do a little more homework or maybe you could use a private tutor?

Academy of Moore Faces Closure
jcinaberdeen: I can tell and understand you are very passionate about the school. Why are you so against traditional public schools? I've given you my opionion on charter schools as a whole. I have worked in Hoke county and was happy to see this past fall where the local high school test scores were off the charts. Sounds like progress is being made! That also means that the schools feeding the high school must be making progress. I know you will do your homework and make the best decision when it comes time.

Academy of Moore Faces Closure
I did not know you guys valued my opionion so much! Machspeed: The answer to your questions are no. I have not visited the school nor do I have a connection to the school. I do know people who have taught at the academy. Some had a positive experience and some thought the school needed to go in a different direction. That is a nice way to put it.
You don't need to convince me about your school. I will state again that in my opinion, charter schools would be just like the public schools if Charter's were to run them all. I'm sure there are examples of Charter's that are successfull. However, you do have some pretty good options of schools in the county that you live in. Not all are perfect and yes, some need work. Working with the communities and re-emphasizing the importance of an education is where we should be directing our attention and resources. To Woodpile: I am sorry that you are threatened by a liberal point of view. Maybe when health care reform passes, you and Rush can move to Costa Rica together. Good luck with that!
