Good letter and absolutely sensible. The screamers shouting "Take back America" lost an election due to 8 years of horrible misrule and a pitiful record in almost every area. That's why their guy lost and a black guy with a funny name got elected. Move on and if you come up with good ideas that don't disenfranchise people and help the republic you'll win elections again.
Times were clearly simpler in early America, when we had a biblical understanding of right and wrong, what constitutes a family, and God's commandments for living a happy, productive life. Wow, what a Disney world you must live in.
Are you referring to the fact that Africans were kidnapped, brutalized and brought over here as slaves, or the fact that only White males were allowed to own property, or the fact that women were denied the right to vote, and for the most part were denied an education, as the wonderful things we are missing from our early years?
Also, thanks for denigrating my marriage. I wed a wonderful women 2 years ago. She has already experienced menopause. Since we won't have children together perhaps I should have wed a young breeder. I am sure that I could have made a gentleman's arrangement with some poor farmer for his daughter if I thought she could give me sons.
This should be a workable solution if it is possible to actually have the civil union and the religious/civil ceremonies of marriage provide the same protections under the law. In New Jersey they tried half heartedly to provide for both hetero and same sex unions via this path but the same sex civil unions did not carry the same weight or provide the same protections as promised. We'll see.
The only really sensible sentence in this silly letter is the last one that says "Shame on the Republicans". The rest is tripe. The Tea Party is the modern equivalent of the No Nothing Party of the past. Nothing to offer, nothing to assist in the problems present, and responsible for many of the problems existing.

Traditional Marriage or Unholy Chaos?
