Mr. Cook. This shows how out of touch you truly are. It's amazing how much better industrialized nations do when compared to the United States. Could that be because they attend more days of school than we do? Could that be that they only test students going into upper level education? Could that be that they don't constantly standardize test their students? Could that be that they allow their schools to handle discipline where as we prevent ours from doing so? The answer to all these questions are yes. Vouchers and charter schools are not the answer unless you want to build a society based on the privileged and fall further behind the rest of the world.

Nick Picerno's comment about over funding the schools will encourage the schools to spend every penny the next time instead of doing a good job at not being wasteful. Since the state ranks in the bottom forty in per student expenditures, I seriously doubt you could over fund the schools at this point. Also remember that Chatham and Hoke Counties can meet all the new objectives because they already have one to one technology initiatives. Although the funds are appreciated, the reality is that Moore County is behind. Hopefully the school system itself can solve the problem.

As a school administrator, he would know that several of the bills he and his party have passed have been devastating to the students of North Carolina. He would know that the solutions that have been proposed by him and his party have not addressed the problems they are attempting to fix. His actions, as an educator in a legislative position, are despicable. As far as pay day loans go, just because people might not go to loan sharks if we have them doesn't make it morally right. Just because we need jobs doesn't make fracking worth the risk. It will only take one mistake. When that mistake happens, it's too late. Hopefully, if he was truly a quality school administrator, his conscious will get to him and he will start thinking about the best interest of all children and do right by them. Hopefully, he will support jobs that do not put citizens at risk from unethical, harmful, or otherwise potentially hazardous situations.

He must seriously believe the system is broken based on his party's stance on education. I personally believe that when a country, like ours, has the best military in the world, the best freedoms in the world; then we ought ot have one of the best health care systems in the world. That is simply not the case. Wouldn't you agree?

The Feds. have twisted the states arms and blackmailed them into doing things in order to get money. However, there will be a great need for computers shortly. The state is already requiring several tests be given on computer which was developed by NC State and soon will become the new national test. The more national tests that are developed and required, the more computers will be needed in order to meet this testing need alone. The state has also required that every student in North Carolina will take an on-line course in order to graduate high school. This again puts a huge strain on the high schools which are down on computers. Finally, the state curriculum mandates that course require students to be able to use APA and MLA for on-line research. That will require even more computers. Before you attack the bonds that will be needed, trying putting water on the source and cause.

Schools Receive Half From County Budget
